The number of Ohioans who filed initial jobless claims last week reached above 37,000, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. From Jan. 3 to Jan. 9, Ohioans filed 37,309 initial jobless claims last week, which was 7,600 more than the week ending on Jan.2.Over the last 43 weeks, Ohioans filed a total of 2,135,163 initial jobless claims.From Jan. 3 to Jan. 9, Ohioans filed 278, 026 continued jobless claims last week, which was 498,276 fewer than the peak last year. During this same week, 30,373 Ohioans received Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) last week.If you find yourself in need of work, ODJFS has launched the “Ohio To Work” initiative to help displaced workers re-skill and restart their careers.
